I honestly have no idea where to start. This trip was INCREDIBLE! I couldn't be more thankful to have been able to share this experience with the most perfect friends in the world. The weekend getaway started on a Thursday morning when we all met at the airport to board a 9 passenger private jet (all the praise and thanks to Sonya and John). We popped champagne and enjoyed the views from the sky on our smooth 1 hour flight to Abacos. From there we took a 30 minute boat ride to the Grand Guyana Cay island where we debarked at Bakers Bay Golf & Ocean Club.
STAY.
Tucked away between the Sea of Abaco and the Atlantic Ocean, Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club is an exclusive, members-only club community. The property features an exquisite golf course, 6-1/2 miles of white-sand beach, a family beach club, three restaurants, a world-class spa and wellness center, and luxurious residences that blend in with the beautiful Abaco Islands. My best friend's parents have a home in Bakers Bay which is were we stayed for the weekend. Once we got off the boat we picked up two golf carts and rode them through the neighborhood to what I think is the most breathtaking vacation home I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. We were less than a 2 minute walk from the dock, and a 5 minute golf cart ride to anywhere else on the island.
PLAY.
Oh boy did our childhood selves ever so come out while we were in Bakers Bay. This resort had a ton of different activities that kept us entertained all weekend long. To start it off the boys drooled over the beautiful golf course. They were like kids in a candy store playing their best golf without shoes or shirts!
At the beach club, they had a bunch of water sports/activities and of course we decided to challenge the floating trampoline. It may have taken a few hands and a couple of minutes for us to mighty the strength to climb up on the floating trampoline but once we were up, well it was hard to stay up! With bellies full of laughs we took turns jumping and knocking each other down.
Another fun activity we took part in was a slip and slide on the beach which lead to the ocean. Lets just say all the kids got a kick from watching us crazy girls attempt at sliding down as cool as they did. *Watch the YouTube videos below to see Mackenzie attempt to break her neck on the slide*
Bakers Bay also has mini-putt course, baseball field, football field, rock wall, and ninja warrior course fun Fun FUN!
The most adventurous activity we took part in during this weekend in paradise was our boat ride on that Saturday. Our captain was Willy and his boat was named Papa Willy. We loaded up for a half day trip on the water and set out....for a very bumpy ride. The water was very choppy cruising out to our first stop but we hunkered down because we arrived at the most odd island of them all...Pig Island. Yup you read right, this beach was filled with PIGS that SWIM. We fed them bread and (I) screamed like babies. It was unbelievable. Our next stop on the boat adventures was another secluded island where we anchored on the shore and fed stingrays and baby sharks. Willy would put fish bait in between our toes as we stood in the shallow water and not just one or two but about 7 stingrays would swarm around us and sucked the bait from your toes EKK! As for feeding the sharks, I failed miserably...too sketch for my comfort.
EAT.
Ya'll know I love my food and the Bahamas didn't disappoint!
Casamigos Taco Truck- I'm not lying when I tell you we ate there like 4 times, these tacos were HEAVEN! My first try I had the blackened shrimp tacos and what struck all of us was that the main ingredient relish. In all my years of taco eating, never have I had relish with my tacos...but OH my LORDY was it ever so good. I definitely recommend. I also tried the steak tacos which just melt in your mouth. They had a few other types of tacos that I didn't get to as well as many different side dishes. Oh and did I mention this cute little food truck was on one of the golf holes, next to a tiki bar overlooking the turquoise waters!!!! Talk about lunch with a view.
Treasure Sands Club - On the day we went out on the boat we stopped for lunch at Treasure Cay and this was the day I tried conch ceviche for the very first time. For those who might not know ceviche is a seafood dish typically made from fresh raw fish cured in citrus juices. Hands down the most mind blowing taste bud soaring concoction that I've ever eaten...SO GOOD! BTW conch is very meaty and not what I expected, but I approve! I also had a chicken panini with crispy brussel sprouts. The panini needed some sauce, but the brussel sprouts where buttery flaky goodness (Butter, Flaky, Crust, HAHAHA).
On our last night on the island we ate at one of the three restaurants in Bakers Bay. Let me just start of my saying we were all giddy in our seats because the legendary Michael Jordan was sitting two tables away from us...MICHAEL FREAKIN JORDAN! Anywayyyy we all enjoyed a couple bottles of white wine and gave toasts to our amazing friendship before indulging in our decadent dinner. I ordered (you guest it) pasta carbonara with truffle butter. As you can see in the picture below it came with the egg on top which I've never seen before but sweet baby jesus was it ever so perfect. Kelsey and Kylie ordered immaculate sushi and I blacked out after tasting Tony's steak because it was the best piece of meat I've ever had.
To leave our mark in Bakers Bay we joined in a tradition and signed + decorated a buoy and hung it on the buoy tree. It was so nice to see all the other vacationers buoy's of all types on this old tree.
